Scope and Contents

The Journal of Popular Film and Television Records consist of the journal's editorial and business archives, including manuscripts of accepted and rejected articles, page layouts and proofs for the journal, and correpondence between the principals involved.

The collection is loosely separated into correspondence and editorial series; however, additional accessions are more interspersed.

This collection is minimally processed, but it is available for research upon request.

Biographical / Historical

The Journal of Popular Film and Television was created in 1972 as The Journal of Popular Film by Michael Marsden, Jack Nachbar, and Sam Grogg, who at the time were graduate students at Bowling Green State University. Television was added as a subject in 1978. It was published by Heldref Publications until it was purchased by Routledge in 2009.

Books acquired from the publishers and editors of The Journal of Popular Film and Television have been separated and included in the general collections of the Browne Popular Culture Library.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The materials in this collection were transferred to the Browne Popular Culture Library by Michael Marsden in a series of donations beginning in 1972.

Processing Information

A preliminary inventory was created by one or more unknown processors/archivists; this inventory was dated 1991. This inventory was revised and input into ArchivesSpace by Tyne Lowe, Manuscripts Archivist, in May 2025.

Later accessions are not represented in this preliminary inventory.
