Dear Gale,

Truthful George had
a nice birthday with us. It
has been warm for a week
or more and I think the win
-ter is finished as far as low
temperatures concern it.
The cooties found me again
and to-daytoday me and my
belongings were deloused.
I left my pocket book in my
clothes when they went through
the delousing process and if
there hadn't been a couple
big French pennies in it, it
would have shrunk out of
existence. It was just like
peeling a coconut to get
those pennies.
I lost my knife a few days
ago and made me a lot

madder than when I lost
my pay book.
There was a little athletic
contest between the Camp Sher-
man
and Camp Custer detach-
ments of the company. Camp
Custer
crowd did all the
winning and some members
of the Camp Sherman outfit
lost all their holiday spirit
over it.
We are having daily inspec
-tion for cooties by medical
men. Beside this everyone is
supposed to spend a few min
-utes each day reading his
shirt
. Our bulletin board says
that we would have been on
our way to somewhere if
the men had been free

of cooties. Funny how small
things will sometimes hold
up big work. When they tell
you that a division of the
army has been held up by a
few cooties you feel like
you had been hit with a
bad egg or something worse.
Well I will close. I am feel
-ing fine and on deck for my
portion of chow in good
time every meal. Have
not received any mail
yet. "Good Bye"

Your brother,
Pvt.Private Wendell E. Watson
Co.Company D 340 Infantry.
