May 14, 1918.
Dear Norma,

Well we are back from
the Rifle Range, after shooting high
power guns until we were sick
of it. I suppose I shot at least
two hundred cartridges in guns
that have a range of three and
one half
miles. I had the satisfac-
tion of plugging the bulls eye
on the two, three and five
hundred
yard ranges. The gun
dare not wiggle much when
you hit an eighteen inch
bulls eye at five hundred
yards. that is a little over
ninety rods.
While my shooting was fair
I was not in it with the

experts. I saw one fellow hit an
eight inch bulls eye, at two
hundred
yards, twelve times in
one minute and not miss a
shot.
The Rifle Range is built at
the base of Mt.Mount Logan. The
mountain is used as a
back stop for the bullets. There
is a lot of steel in the base
of mountain as they shoot up
$dollars 24,000 worth of cartridges into
it every-day. While Mt.Mount Logan
is a small one it is the high-
est I have ever seen. One
fellow looked up at it the
other day and asked if that
was the highest in the world.
I got a box of goodies from
Aunt Irene to-daytoday. The "Old
Maids" of Grelton sent a box
of goodies down to their bunch
to-daytoday. Our grub is better
since we have been assigned
to a regular company.

When we got in from the Range
to-daytoday noon we had a dinner
that was great. Lights are
going out so I will have
to cut it short. We are corraled
in at 9:15. Don't fogetforget to
write a little note occasionally
and let me know how everyone
is coming. I heard that Charley
Storch
was going to motor
down with a load next Sunday.
I will see them if they do. That
is if we have Sunday off. We
haven't had a Sunday yet.
Well this is all for this time.
