Received your letter
yesterday and was certainly glad
to get it. Am feeling pretty
good but contracted a nasty
humor today(Sunday)as
we have not had a min-
ute off for some time. Our
company was on interior
guard from seven o'clock
Friday night until seven
Saturday night and I
spent eight of them hours walk-
ing my post was military
mgunnermachine gunner. Only had to
hold up three men at night
and take their money. We
returned from the rifle range
Thursday forenoon a distance of
five miles in a little over
an hour. We carried ^a full
equipment for exercise
I guess. I made a score
of two hundred and forty
three out of a possible three
hundred with the average at
two hundred for the company.
On rapid fire at two hundred
yards I punctured ten straight
bulls eyes in one minute.
done that twice which only
a few done. Well every
thing was not rosy out
there sleeping in "pup"
tents for I lost the bolt
out of my rifle which
will cost me only $dollar4.60
We had rain Tuesday to
soften our bunks "the ground"
instead of sugar in our coffee.
I went down and seen [Seadell?]
last night it being the first
chance I have had since
he made the trip seen
the remainder of the crowd
that I know except Pat
Burton Went over to a
canteen and purchased
Wendell + Conn a large
supply of candy they being
permitted to only enjoy their
two weeks confinement at washtime.
I can see those redhorse (fish)
swimming around on the
ripples waiting to be
caught. Wouldn't mind in
taking a swim in the least
for itsit's pretty hot and
am wearing Uncle's
regulation heavy weight
under col clothes and suit.
This will be all. Write often even
if I don't answer. Will do best that
I can between shifts. Yours
