After the Kent State Shootings: Bowling Green State University's Reaction

We have received your letter of May 11th which was sent to the
parents of your student body, and I do want to thank you very
much for describing the present situation.

It is quite apparent that Bowling GreenBowling Green State University has so far handled problems
with students in an excellent manner, and your description of the
candlelight march of 7000 students and faculty which was supervised
by 400 student marshalls, is something that many other colleges would
like to be able to describe with pride, I am sure.

We know that these are difficult times and many, many problems are
awaiting us that must be solved. I sincerely hope that Bowling
Green State University can maintain this marvelous record.

Thank you for writing concerning the letter you recently received
from the University. The openness and understanding of the parents dur-
ing the recent disturbances on campus have been most refreshing. We
hope this letter relieved some of your anxiety, and also assured you of
our deep conviction to maintain a peaceful and educational atmosphere on
the Bowling GreenBowling Green State University campus.
