William T. Jerome III, President,

Bowling Green, Ohio.

Dear Sir:

I, as a parent of a student at Bowling Green UniversityBowling Green State University,
would like to write an answer to your most welcome and explanatory
letter of May 11, 1970.

My son, Nelson H. Seip is finishing his third (3) Quarter
and as parents, Mrs Seip and myself have been quite concerned.
The incident at Kent, seemed to touch off the spark and every
parent was more concerned then before. Nelson has been very close
with us in our family ties - but we still worry.

We, like most parents, called him at once and he explained
what was happening at the University. He advised that he was not
taking any part in the demonstrations but that he was still deeply
concerned and that he has his own thoughts.

Your letter explained in full the questions that we had,
and we trust that this situation will at an early date be completlycompletely
settled and over. Your letter also showed us that you too were
deeply concerned about each student and this in turn will assurassure us
that you have their future and the parents concern at heart.

With men like you leading the University and City, we can
sit back and rest assured that you will do everything in your
power to help the student and make better citizens.

Mrs Seip and myself would like to take this opportunity
to thank you for your great concern and putting us somewhat at
ease.

Sincerly,

Wilbur H. Seip,

Dear Mr. Seip:

Thank you for writing concerning the letter you recently received
from the University. The openness and understanding of the parents dur-
ing the recent disturbances on campus have been most refreshing. We
are delighted that this letter relieved some of your anxiety, and hope it
assured you of our deep conviction to maintain a peaceful and educational
atmosphere on the Bowling GreenBowling Green State University campus.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write.

Cordially,

Wm. Travers Jerome III
President
