After the Kent State Shootings: Bowling Green State University's Reaction

I have just recieved a letter from
the mayor of Bowling Green along with
one from your office concerning the
events of the last week that shook
our nation.

It is with great happiness
that I tell you that I feel so very
honored and fortunate that my
daughter was accepted at Bowling
Green State University. Of all of
the millions of words printed concern-
ing the devastating events taking
place at other Universities through-
out the United States, not one
word could be said against you.

In my eyes Bowling GreenBowling Green State University has
proven it's worth to our nation.

It is my honor to have Rosalind
K. graduate from your University.

The news yesterday said
that you are leaving, it is

with regret that I see you go,
for I know your leadership has
helped to build B.G.U.Bowling Green State University into the
esteemed place of learning that
we so much admire.

May God be with you in
your future endeavors and it
is my prayer that happiness
will fill your life.

Thank you for your very thoughtful letter. Your confidence is tremen-
dously encouraging to me and I cannot tell you how refreshing I find the open-
ness and understanding which some of our parents share in common with you.
It is my personal belief that the University has grown in stature these past
few weeks and I can turn over to my successor, Dr. Hollis A. Moore, an in-
stitution of great promise and vitality.
