Dear Sir:
Your letter of May 11th was most gratefully received. How very thoughtful
of you to send this message to us, so as to allay the fears of parents in
these terrifying days.
When our children go off to college, we hope that they will conduct them-
selves as decent young men and women. We hope they will become educated
in such a manner as to be able to make the proper choices when confronted
with the problems of the day. The cry today is "it’s the parents fault"
but parents cannot vouch for their children's behavior under certain given
circumstances for there are many influences, good and bad, with which our
children are confronted. It is a time in their lives when they must make
the choice and be able to discern the truth and the good.
We are proud of the manner,in which the students at Bowling Green State
University, have conducted themselves through these sad and trying days;
that they were able to show their dissent in a dignified and peaceful
manner. We pray that it will always be thus.
We are most happy that our daughter, Clellia, chose to attend Bowling Green
State University. We feel that she is in a good environment for learning,
where facets are available for proper education of today's problems. Through
dialogue for greater understanding and respect for the opinions of others,
the students may present their dissent through legal and peaceful chanelschannels.
To you in the Administration Department, we send our most sincere thanks,
prayers and good wishes that God may Bless you in your good and commendable
work with our young people. May your methods spread to many other Colleges
through out this Great Land of ours. It is still the Best Country in the
World, don’t let the students forget this.
