Dr. William Jerome, President
Bowling Green State University
Bowling Green, Ohio
Dear Dr. Jerome:
My daughter is a student at Bowling GreenBowling Green State University. During
a visit with her this past week-end she expressed
the view that you have done a remarkable job under
adverse circumstances during the past week. She
said you were subjected to abuse, vile language
and ridicule by a radical group of students.
As a parent I would like to express my sincere
thanks and appreciation to you for your efforts in
keeping the university open. I have the greatest
admiration for your courage, your perseverance,
your commitment to peaceful dissent and to keeping
Bowling GreenBowling Green State University open for those who wish to attend
classes. I support you in these efforts, I think
all parents and the vast majority of the student
body also do.
I regret that you are leaving Bowling GreenBowling Green State University but I
wish you well in your future pursuits.

Thank you for your very thoughtful letter. Your confidence is tremen-
dously encouraging to me and I cannot tell you how refreshing I find the open-
ness and understanding which some of our parents share in common with you.
It is my personal belief that the University has grown in stature these past
few weeks and I can turn over to my successor, Dr. Hollis A. Moore, an in-
stitution of great promise and vitality.
Thank you from the depth of my heart.
Wm. Travers Jerome III
