Agency History | A few Catholics began settling in Leipsic around 1873. In 1874, the parish priest of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Cleveland began attending to the Catholics in Leipsic. In 1876, the parish built its first church. With the building of the church, the status of the church changed from a Station to a Mission of New Cleveland. In 1888, the parish completed their first rectory in preparation of receiving their first resident pastor. They received their first resident pastor in 1891. His name was Reverend John Bertemes. In 1891, the parish realized the need for a new church. Their second church was completed in 1893. In the early 1950's, the parish realized again that their congregation was growing rapidly and they needed a new church. The church was completed in 1958 and is still in use today.
