Introduction | The records of St. Catherine Catholic Church, 1930 - 2002, were transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio 43403, in May 2002, with the cooperation of Reverend Gary R. Walters of St. Catherine Catholic Church. The collection consists of baptisms*, first communions, confirmations, marriages*, profession of faith, book of the elect and interments. Due to inconsistencies in pagination and transcription of data, researchers are encouraged to refer to all volumes within each series. (See order of microfilming for a detailed list of these records.) Some text is in Latin. This register and this collection was prepared by Rachel Diegel in May 2002. *There is a seventy (70) year access restriction on baptism and marriage records. No restrictions apply to the remainder of this collection. |
Agency History | The parish of St. Catherine Catholic Church was formed in 1930. It was formed from a division of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, which in turn was formed from a division of St. Agnes Parish. The combination church and school was completed in late November of 1930. It is located on the corner of Corbin Road and North Lockwood Avenue. In 1954, about five hundred families were relocated to the newly formed parish of Regina Coeli. This did little to decrease the membership of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Due to the increase of membership, the parish began to build a larger church in 1960. It was completed in 1961. The original church was converted into more classrooms for the crowded school.
