Biographical Sketch | Barbara James is an author of romance novels from Brooklyn, New York. A reader of romance fiction since high school, James became interested in writing romance herself in 2015 after reading the Hot Under the Collar series by Amber Belldene, an Episcopal priest. James was herself studying to become an Episcopal clergywoman at the time, and was ordained in 2018. James has self-published three contemporary romances since 2017. The books- Starting Over: Rick, Going Home: Roger, and The Wedding Bet: Lauren comprise the Sweet & Sensuous Series. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Scope and Content | This collection is primarily composed of materials related to becoming a romance author including items from local and national conferences, manuscript notes and drafts, as well as correspondence with freelance editors and others in the profession. This collection will be of particular interest to those looking to understand what is involved in being a self-published romance writer in the late 2010s. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
