Introduction | The .2 cubic feet of material in this collection was donated to the HCGL by Herbert Harwood of Baltimore, Maryland in 2015. Literary and property rights were donated to the public. Photocopying is permitted for purposes of conservation and research. The collection was processed in May 2015 by Joe Lueck. |
Biographical Sketch | Herbert Harwood has concurrently been a railroad historian, writer, photographer, and working railroader. Receiving his bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University and his MBA from Columbia University, Harwood has published eleven books on railroad and electric railway history. |
Scope and Content | This .2 cubic foot collection is composed of 339 black and white negatives of Great Lakes vessels. Negatives in this collection date from the 1920 to 1977. Although most of the photos were taken by Herbert H. Harwood, photos taken by R.P. Wallis, Joseph Brauner, and Elmer Treloar are also present. |
