Introduction	The .25 cubic feet of material in this collection was donated to the HCGL by Franz VonRiedel of Duluth, Minnesota in two installments in 2003. Literary and property rights were donated to the public. Photocopying is permitted for purposes of conservation and research.
Biographical Sketch	Franz VonRiedel has both practical and historical expertise working with Great Lakes tug boats. Having worked for companies such as VonRiedel Marine Services as well as historical groups such as the Northeastern Maritime Historical Foundation, VonRiedel has published multiple books featuring photos of Great Lakes vessels.
Scope and Content	This .25 cubic foot collection is composed of 140 color photographs of Great Lakes vessels, with a focus on tugs. Photos in this series date from the 1990s to the 2000s. Photos in this series were taken by Franz VonRiedel, Wendell Wilke, Alfred Hart, and others. See PDF below for item-level inventory.
