Introduction | Records of the Bowling Green State University chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (formerly Sigma Alpha Eta). The chapter is made up of undergraduate and graduate students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication behavior. Chapter members have the opportunity to engage in community service, social events and fundraising. Duplication of materials in this collection is permitted for the purposes of preservation and research. No restrictions exist on the use of this collection. Agency History | Sigma Alpha Eta was formed as a national society in 1949, with a BGSU chapter formed shortly thereafter. The National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association was formed in 1972 and that same year the BGSU chapter was formed, superseding Sigma Alpha Eta. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Scope and Content | The collection consists of records from the 1950s-1970s documenting the activities of Sigma Alpha Eta, and from the 1990s-2010s documenting activites of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association on campus. The latter part of this collection (NSSLHA records) was donated to the University Archives in May 2017 by an outgoing officer of the chapter.
