Introduction | The Robert "Buck" Coulson Collection consists of approximately 0.8 linear feet of manuscript materials. The collection was donated to the Browne Popular Culture Library by Juanita Coulson beginning in 2002. This collection is primarily composed of science fiction and filk music convention programs and related materials. The collection has no restrictions placed on its use for scholarly purposes. Biographical Sketch | Robert "Buck" Coulson (1928-1999) and Juanita Coulson (1933- ) are American science fiction and fantasy writers as well as prominent in the filk music and fan communities. For 33 years the couple edited the fanzine Yandro, which was nominated for a Hugo Award every year from 1958-1967. Buck and Juanita were prolific filk song writers, which Juanita often sang at conventions. Buck Coulson passed away in 1999 after a long illness. Juanita Coulson has continued to write prose and songs as well as performing. The bulk of the materials in this manuscript collection were accumulated by Juanita Coulson after her husband's death. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Scope and Content | The collection consists of programs and related materials for science fiction and filk music conventions from the 1970s through 2012. The materials were accumulated by Robert "Buck" Coulson and his wife, Juanita Coulson. The conventions represented here are local, regional and international in scope.
