Agency History | In 1984, Robert R. McCammon came up with the idea for an association of horror writers named "HOWL"- Horror/Occult Writers League. The name was altered to Horror Writers of America in 1985 and began to draw the interest of high-profile writers such as Deaan Koontz, who served as the organization's first president from 1986-1987. With the assistance of Sheldon Jaffrey, the orgnaization was incorporated and began to grow rapidly. Jaffrey remained on as General Counsel until 1997, when he resigned to focus on his law practice. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
