Introduction | The Ken Kuhlken Collection consists of approximately 6 linear feet of manuscript materials. The collection was donated to the Browne Popular Culture Library by Ken Kuhlken beginning in 1994. This collection is unprocessed, but may be accessed by contacting the BPCL referenc email. The collection has no restrictions placed on its use for scholarly purposes. Researchers are responsible for securing copyright permission when using all unpublished manuscripts and published works found in this collection. |
Biographical Sketch | Ken Kuhlken (1945- ) is an American author and educator. He has written seven novels and multiple non-fiction books including several about the craft of writing. The novels are based around private investigator Tom Hickey and his family, with a timeline stretching from 1926-1979. A graduate of the University of Iowa Writing Workshop, he has taught at University of Arizona, Cal State- Chico, and San Diego University. He currently teaches creative writing at Perelandra College. |
Scope and Content | The collection contains manuscripts for many of Ken Kuhlken's novels and stories, in various forms from draft to final. Many are untitled, but include drafts for his novels The Loud Adios, The Venus Deal, and The Angel Gang. Also included is some correspondence related to his writing. |
