Introduction | The Jerry Oster Collection consists of approximately 1.75 linear feet of manuscript materials. The collection was donated to the Browne Popular Culture Library by Jerry Oster between 1985 and 1992. This collection is unprocessed, but may be accessed by contacting the BPCL reference email. The collection has no restrictions placed on its use for scholarly purposes. Researchers are responsible for securing copyright permission when using all unpublished manuscripts and published works found in this collection. |
Biographical Sketch | Jerry Oster was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1943. He received his B.A. in Journalism from Columbia University in 1964. He is a former investigative reporter for United Press International, Reuters, and the New York Daily News. Now a full time writer, he is the author of 18 crime novels, including the Jake Newman mysteries, and lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. |
Scope and Content | The collection consists of manuscripts for several novels by Jerry Oster, including typed edited manuscripts and galley proofs. Manuscripts include Municipal Bonds, Sweet Justice, Rancho Maria, Nowhere Man, Saint Mike, Club Dead, Internal Affairs, and Fixin to Die. |
