Scope and Content | This collection documents the history and activities of the Ohio Alpha chapter of the math honorary society Kappa Mu Epsilon from 1937-2009 (bulk 1960s-1980s). Included in the collection are brochures and flyers, correspondence, handbooks, membership cards, and membership certificates. During processing confidential materials (primarily including students social security numbers and grade information) was removed. Each year to determine eligibility for KME, a report was obtained from the registrar's office on the academic standing of those who might be considered for membership. Sample redacted versions of a few of these reports have been included in the collection; the originals were all destroyed during processing. Collection size: 3 letter sized manuscript boxes (1 cubic foot)
Series Description | Series 1: KME Subject Files – This series contains KME chapter records organized both by subjects from the original folders they were contained in as well as some created for loose materials which were received with the collection. There is overlap between some folders, particularly with regard to initiations, membership and chapter governance. The records document the operation of the chapter and the activities it participated in / led. Series 2: KME Chronological Files – This series contains KME chapter records organized by year starting in 1969 and going through 2005 (1969-1992 bulk). There is some overlap in the dates covered by each folder, though for the most part each folder represents the activities of one academic year. The records document solicitation of members, initiation ceremonies, and activities engaged in throughout the year (such as faculty student get-togethers)
