PCL MS 200 Julie Kenner Collection

The Julie Kenner Collection contains approximately 2 linear feet of literary manuscripts and associated materials for 8 works by the author.  The materials date approximately from 1999-2002. The materials were donated by Julie Kenner in 2005. There are no restrictions placed on the collection for scholarly use, however all copyright and related interests remain with the author or her assigns. The collection was processed and the finding aid completed by Steve Ammidown, Manuscripts & Outreach Archivist, in August 2016.

Julie Kenner is the author of more than 70 novels, novellas and short stories under her own name as well as the pseudonyms of J. Kenner and J.K. Beck. She writes in a number of genres, including contemporary, erotic, and paranormal romance, suspense, and urban fantasy.  Her first book, Nobody Does It Better (the manuscript of which is included here), was published in 2000. She is a five-time Romance Writers of America RITA finalist, and won the first RITA for erotic romance in 2014 for her novel Claim Me. Prior to becoming a full-time writer, Kenner was an attorney in California.

The collection contains literary manuscripts for 8 novels by the author. For three novels- Nobody Does it Better, The Cat’s Fancy, and Reckless- there are additional materials, including manuscript drafts and contest entries. These are of particular interest as they illustrate the process of new writers building a reputation through the writing contest circuit.  Materials for the remaining 5 novels consist primarily of galley proofs.
