The Patricia McLinn Collection contains approximately 9 linear feet of literary manuscripts and research materials for more than 20 works by the author. The materials date approximately from 1991-2004. The materials were donated by Patricia McLinn in 2007. There are no restrictions placed on the collection for scholarly use, however all copyright and related interests remain with the author or her assigns. The collection was processed and the finding aid completed by Steve Ammidown, Manuscripts & Outreach Archivist, in August 2016.
Patricia McLinn is the author of more than 30 novels, primarily in the contemporary romance subgenre. She has also written a non-fiction book of advice for writers. Born in Illinois, McLinn got her BA and MA degrees from Northwestern University and became a sportswriter at several large newspapers before turning to writing novels. Published in 1990, her first novel, Hoops, was a RITA Award finalist. She is a past president of Novelists, Inc.
|Scope and Content|
The collection contains literary manuscripts and/or research materials for 21 novels by the author. The literary manuscripts are copy-edited or line-edited, with alterations by the author. Research materials include magazine clippings, handwritten notes, pictures, synopsis and draft manuscript pages, and correspondence among other materials. Also included are 19 VHS video cassette tapes and 10 audio cassette tapes. They video tapes appear to contain programs taped from the television. The audio cassettes have some notes written on them, but have not been examined for content.
