| Introduction | The Monitor is an official publication of Bowling Green State University that was written by the university's Marketing and Communications Department (formerly known as the News Service) for faculty and staff. The newsletter covers various university related topics, including policy announcements, activities of various committees and governance bodies, the actions of the university president and the Board of Trustees, and other significant events related to the university's academic community. The Monitor was first published in 1973 as a monthly newsletter until 1976, when publication was suspended. In April of 1978, publication resumed on a bi-weekly basis. From 1981 forward, it was published on a weekly basis, until its last issue in January 2012. Marketing and Communications consolidated some of their publications and decided to cancel The Monitor and instead focus on its other publication, The Zoom News. Duplication of materials in this collection is permitted for the purposes of preservation and research. No restrictions exist on the use of this collection. The entire collection has been microfilmed, but paper copies exist only for certain years. Years 1973 – 1994 are available only on microfilm, and years 1995 – 2012 are available in paper and microfilm, with some exceptions. Arranged chronologically. Microfilm stored in University Archives microfilm cabinets. Series 2: Index, 1983 – 1995 Handwritten index of the Monitor from 1983 – 1995. Lists article titles from each issue, as well as corresponding page numbers and supplemental information related to the article.
