Introduction | The records of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, Ohio, were transferred to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University for microfilming in November 1982 with the cooperation of Penny Milliser, secretary, and the Genealogical Society of Utah. The collection (1874-1924) consists of record books. Records of the Port Clinton Circuit, Sandusky District, North Ohio Conference are part of this collection. The Port Clinton Circuit was made up of four communities with church buildings: Port Clinton, Christie, Catawba Island, and Danbury. Also included were communities without church buildings: Erie, Oak Harbor, Bay, Big Bend, Toussaints, Cooleys, and La Carpe. The former group became the Methodist Episcopal Church of Port Clinton while the latter group became the Oak Harbor Circuit. The Methodist Episcopal Church later became the Trinity United Methodist Church. There are no restrictions on the research use of this collection. The Trinity United Methodist Church collection consists of record books which contain lists of pastors, trustees, members, probationers, baptisms, marriages, and deaths. Included in the collection are: a record book of the Port Clinton Circuit, Sandusky District, North Ohio Conference (1854-1875), written in German, with minutes, financial reports, and church records; three record book of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Port Clinton (1874-1920); and a record book of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Catawba Island (1893-1924).
