Short [94], 5 June 1874 [Box 1, Folder 96]Deshler, June 5th - 74 Sir, as I rote to you afive days & have not rece any answer from you I take the opperity to drop you another line conserning another payment on my place I got the money laying idle now as I am a poor man I Wood like to have you take be as easy as you can if you can make alittle Discount on having your monney do so I Will send you the money as soon as We hear from you give me the mount of note ∓ interest I am to say to you that Mr. William Porter is dead he dide last evening little past 9 Oclock I think the Town of Deshler Will miss him but he has gon to his final rest Whare Parting is no more answer this if you pleas the first male. Clark is the man that has excepted of those to lots & wants you to send him a deed the first of December & the money will be ready as soon as I get the deed I will see that you have the money in return he has all ready raised his house. I saw Mr. Clayson the other day & asked me if you had any agent here to sell lots & look after your interest. I told him you had not any agent he asked if i new a good man to be an agent. I told him Mr. Sherman my partner would be a good one for you. I would like the use of the public square to clean it up another year it is all growing up to brush and it looks bad. I would like the use of it fer three years if you want to let me have it you can let me know. From your well wisher Phebe N. Pike to Frederick H.
