Introduction | The OhiOntario International Friendship Games Collection consists mostly of meeting minutes, correspondence, officer and planning information, financial documents and pictures related to various OhiOntario International Friendship Games. Also included are a variety of artifacts such as t-shirts, medals and other souvenirs. The material in this collection dates from 1994 to 2001 and documents the organization and proceedings of the OhiOntario International Friendship Games held in Bowling Green, Ohio and St. Thomas, Ontario. The collection was donated to the Center for Archival Collections on July 11, 2012 by Dolores Black, officer for the OhiOntario International Friendship Games. No restrictions exist on the use of this collection. Duplication may be permitted for the purposes of preservation and research. This register was completed by undergraduate student assistant Emily Schoenlein in July 2012, with revisions by Marilyn Levinson, Curator of Manuscripts. |
Agency History | The OhiOntario International Friendship Games were held from 1994 to 2001. They were created to "demonstrate a community approach to international goodwill by promoting active living in the sister cities of St. Thomas, Ontario, and Bowling Green, Ohio." The following were the aims of the Games:

Scope and Content | The OhiOntario International Friendship Games Collection consists primarily of information relating to the organization and proceedings of the Games dating from 1992 to 2007. This information is mostly organizational meeting minutes, correspondence between various officers, schedules, financial documents, programs, pictures and artifacts from the Games that document the Games from their earliest planning stages until the disbandment of the Organizing Committee. The OhiOntario International Friendship Games Collection also contains information about St. Thomas, the sister city relationship between St. Thomas and Bowling Green, and information from other conferences and games such as the International Games Conference. |
