Description | Physicians Plus Urgent Care on the north end of Findlay, Ohio, with COVID-19 precautions put in place. While Findlay is a small city, it houses several important institutions during this crisis. One-Energy, who's headquarters are near where this photo is taken, is a major installer of utility scale electric generating windmills in the United States. Wind Power helps deliver electricity independent of supply chains that have been shaken by COVID-19, and is a potential part of answering global climate change, which if left unchecked, could potentially cause future pandemics. Marathon Petroleum Company supplies critical resources needed to make products, many of which are needed in the fight against COVID-19. While there is reduced demand for fuel, petroleum is key in the production of various goods, such as surfactants used in the production of soaps. The University of Findlay may be small, but it's researchers recently made a breakthrough on the treatment of Glioblastoma last summer. I have no doubt we would be that much worse off in this pandemic without the research their diligent faculty has preformed over the years. This is to say nothing of the Pharmacists and Nurses the university has trained over the years. Their Mazza Museum also apparently hosted virtual story time to help families during COVID-19. Cooper Tire helps make the wheels that keep trucks on the road, a critical component of our Intermodal transportation system. While they are not as big as Goodyear of Akron, they form a vital component of our nation's infrastructure. |
