Biographical / Historical
The Monitor was an official publication of Bowling Green State University written by the university's Marketing and Communications Department (formerly known as the News Service) for faculty and staff. The newsletter covered various university related topics, including policy announcements, activities of various committees and governance bodies, the actions of the university president and the Board of Trustees, and other significant events related to the university's academic community.
The Monitor was first published in 1973 as a monthly newsletter until 1976, when publication was suspended. In April of 1978, publication resumed on a bi-weekly basis. From 1981 forward, it was published on a weekly basis, until its last issue in January 2012. Marketing and Communications consolidated some of their publications and decided to cancel the Monitor and instead focus on its other publication, the Zoom News.
