The Nancy J. Cohen Papers consist of manuscript materials and promotional materials for Cohen's literary productions (some published under the pseudonym Nancy Cane). It also consists of correspondence, articles, and conference programs, and multimedia recordings from 1994 to the 2010s.

Scope and Contents
Manuscript materials, including novel drafts and galley copies, comprise the bulk of the Nancy J. Cohen Papers. The majority of these manuscript materials were created for the Bad Hair Day series of futuristic romance novels written under the name Nancy Cane. The collection also includes manuscript materials for Cohen's Drift Lords series. Manuscript materials are arranged by title and can be found in two series in this collection (at the beginning and end).
The collection also includes correspondence, fan letters, publicity materials, and materials regarding personal appearances by Nancy J. Cohen.
This collection will be of interest to researchers examining Cohen's work, as well as the literary process of authors who write series fiction across multiple genres.
Biographical / Historical
Nancy J. Cohen is an author of mystery, romance, and futuristic romance fiction. Cohen entered the field of nursing with a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and completed a master's degree from the University of California in San Francisco. She began her literary career in 1975. Her first book, Circle of Light, was a futuristic romance novel written under the pseudonym Nancy Cane. It was published in 1994 and won the HOLT Medallion. She then published novels including Moonlight Rhapsody, Starlight Child, and Keeper of the Rings.
In 1999, Cohen launched her mystery writing career; she published Permed to Death, the first book in Cohen's popular Bad Hair Day series featuring Florida hairstylist and sleuth, Marla Shore. The series now includes 14 novels and one novella. Cohen has also written three books in the Drift Lords series.
